My family and I
moved to Charlotte from my childhood home in Chicago. It may
not have been my first move or my furthest – as a newlywed, I lived in
Cologne, Germany with my German husband for several years – but the
transition to a new city was still difficult to make. We moved to
Charlotte when the boom was just beginning here and have enjoyed
watching this sleepy southern city blossom into a bustling metropolis.
With a cultural
scene and diversity on par with many other modern American
cities, Charlotte has plenty to offer everyone. Home to incredible
sports teams, excellent universities, and a strong arts scene, the city
has a distinct cosmopolitan flavor that makes it an exciting place to
live (just ask any of the new residents; I am sure they will agree!).
Even in its exponential growth, the city has retained its uniqueness
both in architecture and in hospitality, and it's the Carolina charm and
welcoming attitude of local residents that will help you feel most at
home here.
